Poster Session Information
- All presenters will have a 4-ft by 4-ft section of a presentation board to use for your poster. Please keep your poster within these dimensions.
- Push pins will be provided. Should you wish to use any other means of hanging your poster, you are responsible for providing those items.
- Presenters should plan to be with their posters during the assigned session so as to answer questions about their research.

Purpose: The Poster Session is designed to feature professional and graduate work in sociology and promote interaction between members of the Midwest Sociological Society.
“A poster presentation consists of an exhibit of materials that reports research activities or informational resources in visual and summary form. Poster presentations provide a unique platform that facilitates personal discussion of work with interested colleagues and allows meeting attendees to browse through highlights of current research and ideas.” -American Sociological Association
Content: Faculty, professionals, and graduate students experience and study the “art” of sociology in many ways. This session is designed to feature these experiences and studies. Posters may present original research and data collection, theoretical works and applications, studies of public policy using sociological frameworks, as well as other forms of being engaged with the sociological imagination.
Format: Guidelines and information on constructing and displaying posters, session logistics (date, time, place), and presenter expectations details will be sent to all participants accepted into the session.
Expectations of Poster Presenters:
- Presenters must be members of MSS.
- Presenters must also pay advance registration fees for the meeting.
- Those who do not pay membership AND registration fees may be dropped from the program.
- Posters will be on display for a particular period of time during the meeting and presenters are expected to be present during their poster session to discuss their project. You will be notified in advance of your presentation time.
